The department of tourism, Kerala, has decided to appoint a full time liaison office here. The tourism promotion programme kicked off with an event, "Discover Kerala- Recharge Your Soula" on Tuesday.

CHANDIGARH: Getting information about Kerala's tourism attractions - beaches, forts and ayurvedic centers of medicinal value "will be much easier for Chandigarh residents now".

It was a blend of the state's region and religion, from its dance forms kathakali, theyyam and thullal to delicious cuisine, pottupuri, thattukada, chaayaakada. The afternoon session was followed by a trade meeting amongst business people from Kerala and Chandigarh.
Thomas Antony, tourist information officer, Kerala, said, "Since 2007, it's our second comeback to the city. We are here to promote the state and its cultural trends. The tourism department is planning to conduct workshops across the country and in all parts of the world (Sweden, France and Germany) in order to draw more visitors. Since last year the iconic destinations of Kerala have figured on the world tourism map".
"Even in recent Google search trends, Kerala has become the number one travel destination,a?? he added.
Plosi K A, deputy director, Kerala tourism, said, "Residents of Chandigarh have a lot to watch in Kerala. We have kottappuram fort and beaches, which are the centre of attraction. Homestays in Kerala have been chosen as one of the finest. And monsoon is the best time to visit the place."
